Did you finally realize your dream of having a family, only to have your happily ever after turn into a nightmare? Does your home feel unsafe at times? Are you constantly second-guessing your parenting and asking questions like: Will my adopted child be okay? What does their future hold?

If these questions feel uncomfortably close to home, take a breath — you are not alone, and there is a path forward.

If you’re a struggling adoptive parent searching for answers in your parenting journey, you’re in the right place.

Hi Neighbor,
Welcome to Adoption Struggles and Support. I’m Tim, an adoptive parent, adoption mentor, and ambassador of encouragement.

I too felt the joy of having a family of my own, and I wished we could be like other families. Instead, I found myself up late at night, anxious about my family’s safety and my adopted child’s future.

I kept asking myself: How can I make my home safe and peaceful again? Will my child be okay? Where did I go wrong?

It was only by grabbing a lifeline from God and my friends that I was able to navigate the challenges of adoptive life. And now I can’t wait to share everything I’ve learned with you.

My mission is to help Christian adoptive parents create safe and peaceful homes — and learn to be okay even when their kids aren’t — by anchoring their lives in biblical principles.

If you’re ready for real and raw talk with strategies that lead to peace beyond comprehension, so you not only survive but thrive in life’s storms, this podcast is for you.

Anchors of Hope and Healing are on the way.
Your Neighbor,
Tim

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Of course who doesn’t? A better question might be this... When you do feel overwhelmed, what are some ways that you can implement in order to reduce those feelings? May I suggest that you consider taking some micro steps?
Hi Neighbor,
I want to welcome you to a special episode of Anchors of Encouragement. This is going to be a different episode than you’re accustomed to hearing. There’s not going to be any intro or outro music. This is about as basic as I can get to record a podcast episode for you.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of overwhelm and wanted to share that with you.
Hope and Healing are on the way.
Also, I want to congratulate my trainer and friend, Stef Gass for reaching ONE MILLION downloads for her podcast. Wow!
Your Neighbor,⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Tim
P.S. Ever thought about creating your own podcast but don’t know where to begin? That was me until I discovered Stefanie Gass and her excellent training. I started with Clarify Your Calling and then Podcast Pro University.
Now, I have a Top 3% Global Podcast in over 60 countries. Stef shows you how.

Could you use some more noise in your life? I didn’t think so!
Hi Neighbor!⁣
I don't want to add any more noise to your life. If you're like me, you've got enough noise to go around and then some.
What I would like to do in this episode is to share with you 5 ways you can begin to neutralize the noise in your life starting today.
We’ll reframe the acronym NOISE and consider it in light of scriptures from Acts 17, Jeremiah 6, Psalm 29, and more.
Hope and Healing are on the way.

Does life ever feel foggy to you? There's no clear path to take. There’s a lot of uncertainty. It’s hard to see your next step. It can get frustrating and at times even depressing.
Hi Neighbor!⁣
How do adoptive parents navigate through the fog of life? In this special mindset episode of Anchors of Encouragement, I would like to suggest you consider relying on someone with a better vantage point, someone who can shine a light on your path.
We’ll consider this question in light of verses found in Psalm 119, Ecclesiastes 12, Micah 6, and Mark 12.
And finally, make a direct application to the adoption journey from James 1.
Hope and Healing are on the way.

Imagine the ONE voice you feel the deepest connection with suddenly goes silent.
Hi Neighbor!⁣
In this episode, let’s explore that question. I’ll share a personal story about a voice in my life that went silent and how a message from Psalm 139 became a source of healing for me.
I believe adoptive parents can use this same message for healing, comfort, and encouragement with their adopted children.
Hope and Healing are on the way.

Could there be a connection between adoption trauma and sugar addiction?
Hi Neighbor!⁣
In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Joan Kent. Dr. Kent has a Ph.D. in Psychoactive Nutrition. She was the very first to document the brain chemical pathways of sugar addiction, and to explain the sugar/fat seesaw hormonally and chemically.
Joan has helped hundreds and hundreds of clients with metabolic conditions – diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and cancer – as well as with inflammation and mood issues.
Could there be a connection between adoption trauma and sugar addiction? It’s quite possible. Please listen to find out.
Hope and Healing are on the way.

Could it be the struggles you have gone through, have prepared you to encourage someone else?
Hi Neighbor!⁣
Why do bad things happen in life? One might say, that’s just life. But I believe there is a deeper meaning to that question.
In this episode, let’s reframe that narrative. I would like to share a psalm of David, a story in the life of Paul, and a conversation with a queen to show you 3 ways to help someone restore the sparkle in their eyes.
Hope and Healing are on the way.
Your Neighbor,⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Tim⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

When I saw it, my heart sank. I thought I had just killed my boys.
Hi Neighbor!⁣
Today I would like to switch up topics a little bit. I’m not going to talk about adoption but I would like to talk about something that is encouraging.
In this podcast, I talk about how to weather storms in life. In this episode, I would like to talk about a weather story. It’s going to start a little dark but stay with me. I believe it will inspire you.
Hope and Healing are on the way.

It was a day my wife and I had looked forward to celebrating with our son for years. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a day of celebration turned into a day of tears.
Hi Neighbor!⁣
Is it possible to be okay even if your adoptive child is not? I’m here to tell you IT IS possible. Is it going to be easy? No!
In this episode, I want to share the story of a conversation I had with my son Jonny four years ago. I believe it’s a conversation adoptive parents need to be prepared to have.
I also believe having this conversation with Jonny, is one of the reasons he is turning his life around today.
Hope and Healing are on the way.
Your Neighbor,⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Tim⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
P.S. If you missed my interview with Jonny in episode 14, you can catch it here. In it, he shares one of the tools he is putting into practice.

If you asked me four years ago if I would ever have a conversation like I’m having today with my son, I don’t know that I would have believed you.
Hi Neighbor!⁣
If there’s one thing I want to give other adopted parents today, it’s hope. There’s hope if you just hang in there. And as you’re going to see in this episode, if you can get tools that your child will embrace, then there’s the possibility that they can turn their behavior and then turn their life around.
In this episode of Anchors of Encouragement, my son Jonny joins me to share a tool he learned to use while he was in residential treatment. A tool that has helped him in his life.
It’s called 10, 10, 10.
Hope and Healing are on the way.
